Dec. 31st, 2004

This morning I was awakened (as is now my norm) by the squawks of hunger coming from the crib. I put the kettle and let Shannon fuss while it came up to the boil. I know that trying to comfort her when she's hungry is frustrating for both of us, so I turned on the computer and checked my email, finally getting around to responding to a message that came in yesterday.

The kettle boiled after about five minutes and I went into "mom" mode, putting aside my personal time for when I could squeeze it in.

Once upon a time it was multitasking.

Now it's a stolen moment.

Odd how your life experience changes your perception of things. Not that I would give this up for anything, despite everything that's happened (and what's still left to come). It's all worth it when she smiles.
