I had the option of getting a lift to work today, but I turned it down, wanting to walk instead.
I'm glad that I did. The weather was gorgeous and the walk itself was very peaceful and in the moment. You could, if you wanted, call it very zen.
I walk through an old and established neighbourhood and it was quiet today, but not eerily so. There were people out doing yard work (mostly raking leaves) and others out for walks, but there was a distinct lack of traffic on the streets and other intrusive city noises.
The ride might have been ideal for allowing me to stay home a little while longer, but the walk, I think, was far more fulfilling.
