It's so incredible watching Shannon figure stuff out. She gets so excited when she does something that we as adults take for granted, and she gets equally frustrated when she can't make her body do something that she's done before. Her learning curve right now is reaching out to things. She has a bouncy seat with a removable toy bar within reaching distance. For the longest time, I just didn't bother putting the toy bar on the seat because it wasn't a point of interest to her (and it made noise when the seat was bounced or vibrated, which was distracting when she was trying to sleep).

Now, she doesn't even like the seat without it. Now, she's noticed the toys and has started reaching for them. This doesn't seem like a big deal. We all reach for things everyday without thought or effort. But, when we were all wee, reaching for things (and getting them) was a massive effort of hand-eye co-ordination that we had not, in any way shape or form, mastered.

It's beyond just merely fascinating to watch her do this. And it seems to be so easy to forget that she had to learn it too, once she starts learning bigger, and some consider more important, things like rolling over or walking.

And as impressive as it is for her to learn, it's more essential that I make note of this kind of achievement, so it doesn't get forgotten or lost by me or others as she gets older.

I find it fascinating to watch babies change and become so aware of their surroundings. What they want, what they can do. :)
