Declan is back at school and I, for one, am ecstatic. He, however, was even happier than I was about the easing of the stay-at-home orders when I told him. Win-win. He did just have a four-day weekend (long weekend + snow day) and now it is quiet again.
I'm making myself a new glasses case with stuff I have kicking around here. Is that weird? I think it might be weird. One of mine had the little metal piece that keeps it closed snap in half. I can still put my glasses in it, but it's kind of useless to protect them if it gets knocked off the table; the case opens and the glasses fly out. I figured I have a metric fucktonne of fabric, some craft weight fusible interfacing, some Weldbond (which I now need more of because I am just about out and it is craft glue on steroids), a magnet clasp from an old purse that I have been repurposing for parts, and nothing but time. I'm just at the last bit of gluing before it's finally done.
Do I recommend other people do the same? No, not really. Buying one is easier and might even be cheaper overall (because my time is worth something), but I'm going to have a custom glasses case that no one else does, so there is that. Will I make anyone else one? Can't say I will. Did I mention that it was a lot of work? It's a lot of work.
So I'll be over here, still reading stuff, still crocheting hats and scarves to donate in December, still keep on keepin' on. Which is all any of us can really do these days.
