I'm still not very motivated to look for work. Meh. Maybe I should just call this week a write off and leave it at that. Still no call from the Evil Cable Company, either. But, for some reason, this doesn't bother me as much as it should. I know I'm still unemployed with absolutely nothing coming in, but I'm healthy and I know that [livejournal.com profile] fuzzpsych loves me.

Am I happy, though?

No. Although there are glimmers of happiness, the wound is still too fresh and I spent a lot of yesterday weeping. I'm more emotionally stable, but it's tenuous, like ice on a pond in March...you just never know how thick it is until you try to stand on it. It's only been five weeks and the sting of the experience can be very strong sometimes.

We had an offer last night to go to [livejournal.com profile] meowster's cottage for the weekend. It would be nice to get away, and yet, after six weeks in Toronto on an emotional rollercoaster only to be suddenly thrown off, I'd rather stay home and coccoon. [livejournal.com profile] fuzzpsych wants to go and that's fine. He can. But I just don't feel up to it at the moment.

I've also been adding some new people to my flist. One ([livejournal.com profile] athena_51, a fellow graduate of the UW Classics Programme) added me and is a "friend of a friend" and two others ([livejournal.com profile] snowy_kathryn and [livejournal.com profile] zero_design), I had the pleasure of meeting at the last two goth nights at Ren and who just happen to be new to the area. So welcome to you all.

I was woken up last night after only being asleep for about half an hour by [livejournal.com profile] fuzzpsych swapping his pocket stuff from his pants to his shorts. He said he was going out with [livejournal.com profile] meowster (suffering from insomnia) for a little while.

I know that it was good for both [livejournal.com profile] meowster and [livejournal.com profile] fuzzpsych (and after nearly two months of living in each other's pockets, both of us need some private downtime), but I felt like I'm not worth being around.

It's very true that I would have been sleeping while my husband was restless and wakeful and probably pacing the apartment (if not using the computer), but I would have slept a little better if he was home.

Done is done. I can't change that. The feeling, though, won't go away.

I feel better today. I dunno. I guess I just needed to get the ick out by letting others know that I was feeling bad.

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] clawfoot, [livejournal.com profile] lovecraftienne, [livejournal.com profile] the_daily_rant, [livejournal.com profile] robertom for the kind words, and also to [livejournal.com profile] joncanuck and [livejournal.com profile] meowster for being on Messenger when I needed someone to be there. Damned near everything about this entire experience is a great big bowl of ass sucking cherry pits and being in limbo only emphasizes the bad bits.

So. Um. Yeah. Thanks and all that. :)

I'm so stressed out my eczema is coming back on my left pinkie. Just what I need. :P

And until the wee one is in hospital, no movies for us. Sorry about that, [livejournal.com profile] clawfoot. :( But if you want to stop by and hang out or something, that can happen. Just give us a call.

In other (and probably more important) news, Shannon rolled over for the first time yesterday. It seems like she's late, but if she's anything like my sister, she's doing things in her own sweet time. :)

I likes it when Shannon's happy. Makes everything that much easier. She's kicking and "talking" up a storm and trying to shove an entire rattle into her mouth. She's still not sure about the Jolly Jumper, but she likes the initial movement, so we'll see. And, like magic, she went from wondering "WTF? This isn't a bottle!" when being spoon fed to "Cereal is yummy!" literally overnight. Next week, if the cereal is still a hit, I'm going to move on to carrots and see how that goes over. If nothing else, it will make and entirely different kind of mess. :P

When I was chatting with [livejournal.com profile] meowster last night, I noticed that her icon was fuzzy and hard to read. So I made her a new one with the exact same wording that's actually clear. And then I made three more (including the new one I'm using), because I've not come across any really good "bite me" ones. As well as they all turned out, it seems a bit of a waste to use Adobe Photoshop to make icons for LJ (especially text based ones), but they look pretty good. And if there's one you want to use, feel free to snag it from here or email me at the address on my info page and I can send it to you.

(This is the one I updated for [livejournal.com profile] meowster.)

GARGE!

So last night I found the perfect way to go through nearly an entire kilo of icing sugar...three pans of nanaimo bars! I made the peanut butter ones with natural peanut butter (ie. just peanuts), so I'm hoping that they taste okay.

Today was the KW Symphony Sale. Got up after only four hours (!) of sleep and went to look at other people's crap. We took the baby. It would have been marginally easier for me to have the stroller instead of the snugli, but we made out okay, just the same. [livejournal.com profile] fuzzpsych struck out again, while [livejournal.com profile] meowster made out like a bandit! I found some neat stuff (Harry Potter 2 & 3 in hardcover), a nifty liquid measuring cup (looks like the ones that Alton Brown uses on Good Eats), the very first Dungeons and Dragons Basic Set in a box with dice (that one was more for the geek in me...it is, though, in fantastic shape) and a really interesting Development of Writing teacher's guide thing. It has a lovely picture of the rosetta stone and a few other odds and sods that make it an interesting piece. The whole lot cost $5.50, so I can't complain. :)

My uncle Paul, though, he found the prize. Two bowls, basic white dinner ware and obviously well used. Cost a whole quarter for both. The mark on the back was in German and had a swastika! It was Third Reich issue and graced someone's table at one point. The staff of volunteers never looked at the back. So what he bought for a pittance is going to be sold on eBay for whatever the last bidder is willing to pay.
