Sunny did not stay at the vet yesterday and is hella affectionate this morning. Because dosing the cat did not work and he was still peeing on the floor, he's going to be put on fluoxetine. (Sound familiar? It should because it's the chemical name of Prozac.) He also got a shot of some intense antibiotic, as well, as a band-aid and a precaution.
Now, when I get the medication in a couple of days, I'm going to be pilling the cat. Oddly, I'd much rather do that than any kind of syringe/liquid combination.
So, he's better, at least, but not fully 'cured'. Because this is going to be treated with a known antidepressant, there is no telling how long it will take. Could be three months, could be three years, could be the rest of his life. *shrug* He's not the first cat I've had with health problems and I doubt very much that it will be the last. This is what he needs, so this is what he gets.
