Today was the bimonthly cardiac visit for Shannon. It went surprisingly well. She fussed during the initial echocardiogram (just like she always does, regardless of the technician doing it) and it took her a while to settle even after food and a diaper change. Since she was still being a grumpy gus, they weighed her.

She sat still throughout the process, which is very unusual. She's not fond of being nekkid. And, for the first time, she peed in the seat (very amusing, in a way). She tolerated being cleaned up and her diaper put back on. Then, strangest of all, she sat still and happy while a four limb blood pressure was done. That just never happens.

Doctor Roman came to look and the pictures and did another echo and she slept! As soon as her head hit the mattress, she was asleep. He's such a calming influence that I wonder if you could bottle it. Imagine how much you could get for it on eBAY...a product guaranteed to put your wee fussy bairn to sleep everytime. :)

That was the oddness that was the hospital visit, but it's not as strange as what I did yesterday...

I went out to get quarters and stopped into the local bead store. Okay, I love to make things with beads, and I'm pretty passable at making necklaces and bracelets and such. I went in looking for inspiration and walked out speding more than I had intended with two projects in mind.

The first is a new beaded swag decoration to replace the strand of stars in the archway between the hallway and the livingroom. I'm just bored of the stars and this will give me something to do over the next couple of days.

The second is what is truly terrifying...beads and findings for my third PINK necklace.

I hate pink. Ask me about that particular colour and I will go on a tirade for a good 5 minutes or more only stopping long enough to catch my breath. What bugs me most about it is the insinuation that as a girl, I must love pink. It must be the the most prominent colour of my wardrobe and of my life.

Give me a fucking break.

I don't like pink for this particular reason, and now that I have a daughter, my objections to using colour to denote gender are even more firmly entrenched.

So why not one, but three pink necklaces? I wish I could say. I think in my old age, I'm starting to soften a little bit on the colour enough to let it back into my wardrobe in very small amounts. But there's nothing prim and proper about the pink I lean towards.

I'm a big fan of cerise and hot pink. Pastels are not my thing. Far too "that's what little girls are made of" for my liking. And darker pinks look really smashing with silver.

The latest necklace is pink and silver and sparkly. And I've included a picture below so you can see my insanity for yourselves.
