We have a new window now, which is good. It's so clean I keep checking to make sure that it's still there...:)

What isn't so good right now is the oven. The bottom element is no longer working, so no baking for me until either it or the entire stove is replaced. The last thing we can afford right now is a new-to-us stove, but it seems that everytime something goes right, something else goes very wrong.

And now the neighbours downstairs are playing Counting Crows, which means they're home and trying to play something on the stereo so I can dance is going to be impossible (a portable unit isn't really an option because I need to hear the baby). Fuck.

the stove elements usually just slide out and back in again... check out Metro Karges Appliances at 230 Charles St. East. Their phone number is 519-743-3623. I'm sure an element isn't nearly as expensive as a used stove is. Just give them the make and model of your oven and tell them the bottom oven element needs replacing, if they don't have it, you'll have to go to the manufacturer.

I checked the manufacturer website and put in the model number and nada (I've even googled it and still nothing). And I've tried to pull out the element, but it just won't budge. So now I don't know what I should be doing.

is it actually your stove, or did it come with the apartment? if it was part of the apartment fixtures, it's your landlord's problem to fix. (If he's terribly slow about getting things done, you call 3 repair places, get estimates, pick the middle one, get it done. Pay for it, present the receipt as partial payment for your rent.)

It's actually our stove, my folks gave it to us when they got a new one. So nope, it's our problem. He used to fix the old one all the time.....
