I suck

Instead of working on sewing stuff, I just spent the last hour hanging my piece of glass. When I was at Fabricland today, I found copper chain. The last place I was looking for it, too. :P

The chain itself looks a little flimsy, but it should hold. The glass itself isn't that heavy and could, if I was feeling daring, be strung with 8 lb test fishline.

I had to make jumpers for it, which is what took all the time, since I couldn't separate the links without cutting through them. They've not been welded, but they have been crimped.

That said, [livejournal.com profile] quingawaga, do you think that this chain will hold long-term? If so, then I won't need you to pick me up some. If not, then yes please. Although, if you already have it, I'll still take it. I can always use the chain somewhere else. :)

I haven't got any - I haven't been doing much glasswork lately so I haven't been able to manufacture excuses to get to the stained glass supply store since we last talked about it. I've been thinking about your chain, though, and I'm glad you've found something.

I think that stuff will be just fine. But if you're really worried about it, what you could always do is make a "safety cable" from fishing line, and string it through the links of the chain so that if the chain breaks, the line will hold it.

Okay, then I shall leave it then. When I have more time, I might string fishline through the chain, but for now, the chain will hold. :)
