Well, this is it...the first day of NaNoWriMo. I'm sitting here asking myself what I've gotten myself into, but I've been looking forward to this for months. Talk about contradictory. :P

The only thing I'm unsure of is which one to write. I have two kicking around in my head. One a fantastical vision of Georgian pirates, and the other Victorian porn/romance. I don't think I could get any more disparate if I tried.

Writing aside, there's still lots to do today, like look for work (grumble), clean up the Hallowe'en decorations, change over the computer scheme to something less spooky, groceries, and drop off film. Plus any work I want to do on some handmade Christmas gifts (sooner is so much better than later, and far less stressful).

That probably means I should stop updating LJ and get started or risk feeling guilty that nothing got done today (not even a start on my novel).

I'm not registered. I participate, but more for my own edification than to be part of the whole NaNo community.

Even though it's more a backdrop to a surrealistic Toronto than actually the main setting of the story?

Do which ever one feels like it'll be more fun and make you laugh more, I think. I did one serious and one goofy NaNo novel, and although I like the serious one more, I could have written it without NaNo. The goofy one was more fun to write and without NaNo I never would have bothered.

One is definitely more therapeutic than the other. I'm tempted to start the pirate one (working title "Union Station") and if it proves to difficult emotionally, work on the Victorian one instead (working title "The Button Factory").
