Sunny will no longer go near a pill pocket. Saturday, he bit in and broke the capsule, shook his head then scarpered elsewhere. I know that the powder inside is VERY BITTER and cats can taste bitter. Sunday, I gave him his typical pill pocket and other treats and he Did Not Want. Today, I dropped a fresh pill pocket onto the floor accidentally. He sniffed it and backed away.

The pill pockets, they have betrayed him. I actually had to pill him this morning, which...was not great. It took three attempts, the third only worked because I had a very firm grip on the scruff of his neck. You know those memes about cats being difficult to pill? Yeah, that's Sunny in a nutshell. He's taking medication because he's anxious, and now I have to stress him out to get that medication INTO him. Ugh. There are no good solutions here. I'm just venting.

In other news, I mopped the kitchen floor. I know, it's not a big deal to a lot of people, but it's one of my most hated chores. I have to empty the kitchen of everything that isn't appliances and shelving, sweep, maybe sweep again, then I can spray the floor with cleaner before getting to the actual business of mopping. We don't have a big kitchen, but we have a LOT stuffed into it. Disassembly/reassembly is incredibly off-putting. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the results, but the lead in just fills me with fuck-that-don't-wanna.

And it is FUCKING COLD out there. That wind just cuts through everything like a laser cutter. I had to fetch the kid from school and was glad that I had made him wear snowpants today. Now, I'm in a nice warm apartment, dinner already in the oven, and can forget that the sun is a lying liar who lies.

I had to look up what a pill pocket is, but adorable and practical. I'm so sorry they aren't working anymore :(

Oh, the kitchen floor. It's a big deal to me! GO YOU! I hope you enjoy its clean goodness for days to come.

It's amazing how much better I feel now that the floor is clean. It sounds silly, I know, but there it is. :)

The pill pocket worked yesterday? I think the idea of being physically pilled is so awful to the cat that pill pocket delivery is acceptable.

If I realized I was getting pilled either way, I'd take the treat delivery too *LOL* Smart kitty.

We had our fuse box replaced for a breaker box, which necessitated moving the stove.

Ew.

Needless to say, I cleaned that part of the floor, too, because it was open and visible and really gnarly. Considering it's never been done the entire time we've been here, I would say it was time. :P

Breaker boxes are FAR superior to fuse boxes... flipping vs finding a new freaking fuse will win for me every time.

Although our breaker box is in the kitchen cupboard. So every time you need to use it, you have to empty out that shelf :P

Congrats on the clean behind-stove! Even if you don't ever see it again, you'll know it's clean!!

Your results may vary, of course, but when my cats got wise to Pill Pockets I started rolling them in powder made from crushed up Temptations.

I have to squash a Temptation onto the pill pocket to change the scent of it, followed by another Temptation once the pill pocket is in the process of being et. Sunny loves treat. L O V E S them. So I'd been using the one-two punch of pill pocket and Temptation for a while.

Yesterday, though, he actually deigned to be pilled by pocket instead of me physically grabbing him and shoving a capsule into his mouth. As Sunny is a loving, affectionate cat with a dislike/distrust of being cuddled or held, this makes a kind of sense.

Pill pocket issue seems to be solved, but my 0.02 - when Billie decided he didn't like pill pockets any more (for no other reason than he's a cat) in desperation I wrapped the pill in liver paste. He LOVES it. Mmmm, liver with a crunchy centre. He is totally down with this, and wakes up at the appropriate time and looks at me expectantly.

If it was a pill and not a capsule, I would certainly try it. BUT, once that shell is cracked, Sunny spits it out and then glares at it (and me) like a cat betrayed before dashing off somewhere that is not the kitchen.

I can also get his medication in a liquid form, but then we're back to the 'delivery' problem.
