Yeah, not the best way to be woken up at 2:30 in the morning.
Getting the kid sorted out in the living room on the couch with some ginger ale and a bag-lined garbage pail before cleaning up the mess is one of the less glamorous aspects of parenting. Putting Declan on the couch, though, is something I learned the LAST time this happened. The KURA is great for a small room, but fucking terrible for middle-of-the-night sick.
See, the last time this happened, we got his room cleaned up and then put him back to bed. Since he wasn't done forcibly emptying his guts, that was a lot of laundry. I put him on the couch after that.
Needless to say, he's home from school today. Sleeping was a bit non-existent for him after that and I was woken up by him using the bucket a couple of times. He did drift off eventually, but a day at home won't kill any of us, especially if it's viral and not mild food poisoning.
